Individual Therapy

Therapy is a safe space to explore the challenges going on in your life. Over the course of a lifetime it is perfectly normal to experience some up and downs. Whether we feel these challenges are temporary or more long lasting, it can be helpful to have a space to process, to begin to understand what’s going on, and to be able to develop a plan of action to help move towards full functioning.

When we are depressed or anxious, it can be easy to feel stuck and like these feelings will never change. We can get stuck in patterns that are not as supportive as we’d like them to be. In our work together my hope is to help discover some hope, and to explore your feelings both in the present and in the past to begin to get “unstuck”. I also hope to identify areas of strength which have helped to get you this far and can help in the quest to move forward.

With a deeper understanding of the origins of your feelings and reactions, and the development of new patterns it is my goal that as our treatment ends that you feel a greater sense of empowerment and wellbeing.

Some common reasons people come to individual therapy:

  • Coping with Life Transitions

  • Developing a stronger sense of identity

  • Developing healthier habits

  • To learn strategies for improving mood

  • To process grief and loss

  • To gain clarity around goals

  • To process past/present interactions with family

  • To improve relations

  • and more!

Relationship and Couples Counseling

In a fast paced and ever-changing world it is easy to lose touch with those who matter most to us. Things that may have seemed easy at first can be a bit more challenging as we move further in the relationship and we may find that there are new challenges to face together. Couples therapy is a space where we can identify and explore the challenges within your relationship with the goal of increasing a sense of closeness and intimacy. Some common reasons people attend couples therapy:

  • Communication difficulties

  • Trust issues

  • Navigating cultural differences

  • Significant changes (job loss, moving to a new city)

  • Family conflict

  • Navigating open and polyamorous relationships

  • Sex and physical intimacy issues

  • Infidelity

There are many different types of relationships. I believe all people in relationships deserve a supportive, inclusive, and holistic place in which they can sort through challenges.

No-cost Supportive Group (on pause)

Supportive group counseling provides a space for people to connect around common challenges and develop and learn more about strategies for improvement together. Whereas individual sessions allow space for deep exploration and processing over time, groups focus on building a sense of relationship with others and learning new strategies from other group members. Develop healthy emotional connections with others who understand what you are dealing with and who are focused on building resilience as well! Some reasons people join supportive groups:

  • To connect with a group of like minded people

  • To learn from the experiences of others

  • To reduce loneliness

  • To focus on skill development

  • You’d like to work on your mental health and wellness but would prefer a less financially burdensome option (groups are typically less expensive than other services)

I hold a weekly no cost group focused on building wellness strategies. To learn more about our groups reach out using our contact form.

Wellness Coaching

Oftentimes in the mental health world the goal is just to get to a functioning baseline. When we are depressed the goal is to get to “not” depressed or when we are feeling overwhelmed we stop working when we feel we are “managing” it all. What would it be like to continue until we are thriving and growing?

As a therapist certified in positive psychology, I can help you brainstorm and practice ways of turning towards your own well-being and continuing to grow beyond “functioning”. In my work I engage positive psychology tools and interventions to support you as you build resilience, develop new skills to amplify joy, and create a deeper sense of purpose and mastery. By growing our self-awareness and self-compassion, we can more fully experience and appreciate the range of emotions that come along with our day-to-day lives.
